Traditional bungee jumping simply isn't enough for everyone. Some daredevils push the limits of safety and sanity, and the results are typically astounding. Take, for example, the group of Russians that dove into an abandoned cooling tower using a makeshift system of bungee cords secured in place by garden hoses. Yes, garden hoses. The six Russians made their daring leaps one by one while wearing top hats and capes. Fortunately, they all had a safe descent. In a not-so-surprising twist, this group of adrenalin seekers was arrested just moments after their amazing feat.
#3 Carl Dionisio's One-of-a-kind Condom Jump
Somewhat more unconventional than the aforementioned Russians' method of bungee jumping was 37-year-old Carl Dionisio's condom jump. After four months of working three hours a day with a close friend, Dionisio finally finished his grand creation: A bungee cord composed of 18,500 condoms. Why? He wanted to recreate the "virgin buzz" he felt when bungee jumping for the first time.
Dionisio was very confident in the condom contraption's integrity; the design was based on a legitimate mathematical formula. Regardless, he still felt anxious in the months leading up to the 98 foot jump, which took place without a hitch in his adopted hometown of Durbin, South Africa.
#2 15,200 Foot High Hot Air Balloon Bungee Jump
This following video is, without a doubt, one of the most thrilling bungee jumps ever committed. Thrilling enough to warrant its very own post on this website, in fact. On a snowy day in 2001, Curtis Rivers bungee jumped from a hot air balloon located 15,200 feet above the ground. After jumping, Rivers parachuted safely towards the Earth. The video from this event can be viewed here.
#1 Christine Rougoor's Wheelchair Bungee Jump Adventure
25-year-old Adrenalin junkie Christine Rougoor was paralyzed in a motocross accident back in 2008, but the terrible accident that left her without any feeling below the chest didn't prevent her from continuing to seek out adventure. In 2012, Rougoor bungee jumped with assistance from 9Lives Adventures, a company that helps disabled people experience thrills, such as skydiving, snowmobiling and bungee jumping. In the video below, you can tell by her joyous screams that she is having the time of her life. Although her 150 bungee jump was not the first of its kind, it received a lot of media attention and has served as an inspiration for many.
